HISTORY OF LIFESPRING NEW
The mission known as The Redeemed Christian Church of God started with Rev. Josiah Akindayomi in 1952 as the General Superintendent. In 1981, the leadership of the mission changed hands and Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye took charge till date. One of the novel structures put in place by Pastor Adeboye was the creation of model parishes. This was the move that gave birth to the Redeemed Christian Church of God- Freedom Hall, Apapa Parish, which also gave birth to Redeemed Christian Church of God – The Lifespring on a slightly drizzling morning, when all workers resumed church for fresh anointing (Workers meeting).
Pastor Tony Rapu, the Parish Pastor of Freedom Hall- Apapa Parish, called out 14 sets of people (made up of Parish Pastors and assistant Parish Pastors, with their wives and children for those who were married). This was the event which gave birth to The Redeemed Christian Church of God – The Lifespring Parish in 1995. Most of the Parishes birthed at that time are either Provincial Headquarters or Zonal Headquarters, today.
The journey of Lifespring started with Pastor Dupe and Jacqlyn Omotosho with 5 couples amongst who became ministers and the first set of workers. Lifespring started in Pastor Dupsy’s house, moved to Grace Schools, and thereafter to Gbagada playground. From the Gbagada playground, it moved to 5, Mabinuori Dawodu in Gbagada and later moved to 2b, Residents’ road Gbagada. Lifespring established presence at Residents’ road for about 12 years during which time, Pastors Dupe and Jacqlyn Omotosho, left for North Carolina in the United States for mission work and Pastors Sola and Omowunmi Adewole took over the mantle of leadership. Pastor Sola pastored Lifespring for 9 years and further entrenched The Lifespring till 2010 when Pastors Bamidele and Oreoluwa Olurin took over. The Lifespring became a Zonal & Area Headquarters of Zone 2 & Area 007 Respectfully, thereafter, Lifespring was moved to Lagos Province 48, a new province of the Apapa family, which in itself became Region 20. With the transfer, Pastor Bamidele Olurin was made the Assistant Pastor in charge of Province, Lagos 48.
After the transition to Glory of Pastor Bamidele in 2019, Pastor Oreoluwa Olurin was appointed the Pastor-In-Charge of RCCG LifeSpring Parish.
